Wheat Size Considerations
One of the issues we always have to deal with is size. The wheat sculptures have to be large enough to become cultural icons but manageable in terms of engineering, installation and budget. And when building on spec, we don't know what kind of environment they will occupy.

Looking at this render I’m not so sure about 28′ tall.

If they are to be that tall then they need leaves, which wouldn’t be difficult to fabricate.

The magic in this work is in the play between the lush wood forms and the shiny stainless rods.

I think I have to add leaf blades or lower the height.

If the wood started 12′ from the ground plane they might work without leaf blades.

Also, I’m wondering it the 39 whiskers need to be 1/8″ instead of 1/4″ rods.

This is why using a visualization program like Fusion is very useful in the process of creating public-art sculptures.
